Tapenades from Lisa Grabow at Beyond the Olive are quite popular here at Random Acts of Breadness. When I found her company also carries a few jams, I just had to try them. Introducing Persimmon Chutney from Arroyo Seco Orchards, part of the Beyond The Olive Family.

Persimmons, apple, sugar, onion, raisins, red pepper, vinegar, ginger, jalapeno, lemon, spices – OH MY!
Use this on everything – seriously – from toast to roast – what an amazing mouthful of flavor.

These jams use 1/2 the sugar of regular jam recipes and they use no pectin so are truly concentrating the flavors into a jar. The Brits would call this a “conserve,” similar to what we call “preserves.”

However you call it – a flavor jam or a melody of flavor – it’s delicious!
