By request, our award-winning Artisan Sourdough Bread is now available in a Double-Size (XL) Batard. Originally created for Chef Enrique for his amazing Avocado Toast served at Amor a Mi Restaurant in Burbank, these 2-lb beauties need to be ordered a week in advance.
Perfect for family dinners and holidays, our XL Batard(s) will be a visual and flavorful conversation piece, turning your home-cooked meals into a fine dining experience! Serve this bread with Raw Farm A2 Butter or Nutiva Vegan Butter and/or Beyond the Olive Extra Virgin Olive Oil, also available at Random Acts of Breadness.
This is the XL version of the loaf that started it all, our original 3-day process Organic Artisan Sourdough Bread that became the genus of Random Acts of Breadness. Artisan baker Randall Michael Tobin randomly gifted over 800 loaves of Breadness from December 2016 to 2021! The usual response after the first bite: “This is the best bread I’ve ever had! Where can I buy this?” During our Grand Opening weekend we sold out our entire inventory of over 100 loaves (in 2 hours)! Customers were lined up outside waiting to get their Breadness! Ordering here guarantees you’ll get the loaves you want on the day you want them.
Ingredients: Organic Unbleached White Bread Flour Blend (wheat, malted barley, rye), Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water, Organic San Francisco Sourdough Starter, Redmond Real Salt. (organic, vegan)
Place your order a week in advance, specify your desired day of pickup, and your loaf/loaves/butter will be ready for you when you come to the bakery on Thursday to Saturday (12 to 6) or Sunday (11 to 4) at 2214 West Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank.
Note: We may have one or two of these loaves available sliced and frozen, in which case you may be able to pick one or more up without ordering in advance. Call us at 818-562-7303 to check availability. Our frozen loaves thaw/rehydrate perfectly, and have the added health benefit of reduced glycemic index (a scale of carbohydrate-to-blood sugar conversion during digestion; the lower the number, the better) from 53 to 37 when our sourdough is frozen, then thawed. Toasting this bread after thawing reduces the glycemic index another 10%, bringing that number down even further to 33! Compared to the glycemic index of white bread or pure glucose (100), this is a very good thing for people monitoring their carb/sugar intake.
